Norm Cone opened his first financial planning office in 1993. Fifteen years later he moved a whole block and a half away. This as a great example of what Cone & Associates stands for: stability and security.
As Norm likes to say about his role at our firm: "People need to know that the relationship they have with their financial planner is solid. Life has plenty of wrinkles and curves. Knowing that a dependable resource is always there for advice and information helps people sleep well at night. They know me, and they know I'll be there. I'm committed to my clients, and I think that shows by the many long-term clients we have." Norm finds great satisfaction in working together with his clients, not merely serving as a "budget watchdog." This means that clients are treated with consistent, accessible advice and a high level of care and service.
Norm moved to northern San Luis Obispo county in 1978. After working in the public sector, he began his financial planning career in the early 1990's. He has a unique knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution plans gleaned from experience at the highest levels of bargaining with the State of California. Consequently, his specialty is working with individuals and small business owners in the areas of retirement planning, investment management, and wealth preservation for future generations. He couldn't imagine working as anything else other than a financial advisor because he loves what he does and finance is his passion.
Norm has been actively involved in the north county for decades. He has served on the Boards of Directors for the Paso Robles High School PTSA, Morning Star Youth Ranch and Paso Robles Little League. He is a past President of the Paso Robles Kiwanis (and will soon be their Lieutenant Governor!), and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum. He has coached several youth sports teams and remains an ardent supporter of high school athletics and youth causes.
Norm and his wife Esther have lived in the north county since their marriage in 1979 and have five children: Brooke, Jesse, Autumn, David, and Emily. If you ask him about his family, he will be happy to tell you how amazing they are! Together, they enjoy traveling into the mountains or going to the coast on the weekends, exploring, and going to church. Norm volunteers quite a bit with his church and enjoys raising money for youth organizations and scholarships for local high schoolers (among many other charitable outreach efforts!).
